Sweeney Todd - SM
I served as the Stage Manager for Baylor Theatre’s fall 2024 production of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. This production had a very large scope that led to many challenges to overcome and a stunning final product. A few examples of technical elements of the show that proved to be challenging are Sweeney’s collapsable barber chair that opens a trap door into the bottom floor of the barber shop unit, dulled stage razors that were modified to be able to squirt water or fake blood when squeezed, and controllable smokestacks that pumped haze throughout the show. My responsibilities for this show included communicating with a cast of 26 and a production team of 32, sending daily calls and rehearsal/performance reports, scheduling fittings for the cast, attending meetings with the production team - individually and as a complete group - and taking careful notes in those meetings, tracking the different stage locations of the show’s central rolling unit, and calling the show for the duration of the run.
