my bio
Elise Fuselier (they/them) is a Stage Manager and Choreographer from Waco, Texas. Elise has greatly enjoyed getting to Stage Manage dark, operatic shows such as Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street alongside dramatic and humorous plays such as Men on Boats. They also have Assistant Choreographed for upbeat and fun musicals such as Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. In addition to these two cornerstones of their career, Elise also has a passion for Costume Crafts and a hobby of taking theatrical production photos. Elise’s gathered knowledge from these different aspects of theatre has given them a well-rounded understanding of the different aspects of a theatrical process and a greater appreciation of the work of every member of a Production Team and cast. Elise is set to graduate from Baylor University in May 2025 with a BFA in Theatre Design & Technology.

Stage Management:
The thing I value most in my work is making sure people feel seen, heard, and secure in their endeavors. Everyone should be able to feel confident when they bring their ideas to the table confidently. Anyone, from any walk of life, should feel like they are able to ask for help when they might need it without facing the feeling of shame or judgment. This is what keeps me, as a Stage Manager, motivated everyday - the idea that I could help someone else (whether they be an actor or someone on the Production Team) to feel empowered in their own choices, needs, and well-being. I hope I am able to achieve this through checking in with everyone surrounding a production and beyond, making genuine connections with those around me, and being a quick and thorough problem-solver.

Choreography:
As a Choreographer, I hope to be able to make sure the Production Team I work with to create pieces and the dancers I teach and help cultivate movement with feel confident and safe in their bodies, abilities, and overall work of art we are creating together. Being taught to dance is a vulnerable activity, but when dance is cultivated in a safe environment, it can lead to so much bodily freedom and discovery as well as beautiful art. Each individual dancer's personal safety and physical needs should always be taken into account and addressed when creating choreography that all group members can feel comfortable with. I believe that choreography can tell any story if enough thought, exploration, and detail is put into it, as can all art across different methods if it is allowed to grow in a healthy and playful environment.
